Dr. Osama H Hamed, MD, FACS

Dr. Hamed obtained his medical degree from University of Jordan School of Medicine with highest honors. After that he pursuit his surgical training in the United States, he finished his General Surgery Residency from Cincinnati Ohio, then performed 2 fellowships, one in Advanced Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery from University of Maryland in Baltimore and the second in Liver, Pancreas and Gastrointestinal Tumors Surgery (Including Colorectal Surgery) from Penn State University in Hershey Pennsylvania, he is one of few who had completed 2 fellowships in these specialties. He joined King Hussein Cancer Center department of Surgery as Consultant in Surgical Oncology and Minimally Invasive Surgery where he established a busy Hepatopancreatobiliary and GI oncology and Colorectal Surgery practice, he pioneered the introduction of advanced minimally invasive surgery for all kinds of GI malignancies at KHCC and in Jordan. Currently Dr. Hamed hold the following positions: director of the Specialized Gastrointestinal, Liver, Pancreas and Bariatric Surgery Clinic in Amman; part-time lecturer at the Department of Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine University of Jordan, Visiting HPB surgeon at Rashid Hospital Dubai Health Authority and Visiting Bariatric Surgeons in the American Specialty Clinics Center in Muscat, Oman. He is also member of the HPB surgery board committee for the Jordan Medical Council. Dr. Hamed main interest is application of Minimally Invasive Surgery in Complex GI Oncology and multidisciplinary management of Colorectal Liver Metastasis, Bariatric Surgery with special focus on revisional procedures and surgical treatment of type II Diabetes Mellitus. He has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, he is also a member of the Middle East and North Africa National Comprehensive Cancer Network MENA-NCCN for the colon cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma committees, he is a council member and founding member of Jordan Chapter of the American College of Surgeons where he had successfully organized and managed multiple ACS regional meetings and jeopardy competition among surgery residents, also he is a founding member and council member of the Jordan Obesity Society
